Maintenance Tech 2nd Shift Job Description

2nd Shit (Monday – Thursday 2:30pm-1am)

Job Summary

Installs and repairs items inside and outside of the plant, utilizing basic electrical, plumbing and industrial equipment diagnostic skills. Diagnoses and uses troubleshooting skills to fix malfunctioning apparatus and performs preventative maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs electrical, plumbing or mechanical troubleshooting skills to repair building related items.
  • Dismantles, adjusts, and repairs assemblies according to prints.
  • Uses diagnostic equipment.
  • Responsible for PM program for all presses.
  • Able to operate a full range of shop equipment tooling and machinery.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics and other drawings.
  • Responsible for items related to building maintenance.
  • Proficient with welding and using cutting tools.
  • Keeps work areas clean.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and follows all work rules.
  • Any other duties determined by management.
  • Have the ability to differentiate between various colors and shades as part of quality control and product inspection duties.
  • Will have to work at heights in lifts occasionally.
  • Attendance on-site required

Education and Experience: Must have high school education or a GED. Additional technical school or vocational education is a plus and may be required. Able to read schematics and blueprints.

Language skills: Must be willing and able to communicate effectively.

Certificates and Registrations: Authorized and certified in LOTO. Prefer fork-truck and scissor lift certification.

Other: Must be able to use a calculator and understand concepts of basic math. Must be proficient at reading a ruler and distinguish colors. Must have own tools and be able to operate many diagnostic tools and test equipment.

Physical demands

  • Must be able to push, pull, kneel, reach, sit, hear, walk and see.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours at the time.
  • Must be able to see fine detailing in finish product.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a random basis.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Employees may feel vibration from machinery. Noise levels are required PPE levels on machinery, ear plugs or earmuffs required. No other negatives noted.
